Welcome to Fox Run Farm!

We are located in the rural suburbs of Charles County, Maryland nestled on 27 acres of land. We originally started our small hobby business in Calvert County in 2007, but several years ago we had the wonderful opportunity to expand our farm and give our animals more room to run and play.

Our passion for animals goes back many years ago when owner and breeder, Claire Clements, hand raised mice for a local pet store when she was in the 5th grade. She noticed that all of the rodents offered as pets were timid and would bite. So she took a pair home and began hand raising them. The store owner promised to only sell her hand-raised mice as pets and thus her desire and love for animal husbandry grew. Claire always had various types of pets growing up but her greatest love was the love she had for her dogs.

Our Story

Fox Run Farm began as an idea between Claire and her mother, Lynn. The idea that all of the best pets come from loving family-raised environments verses mass puppy mills and large scale kennels.

What Makes Us Different?

Family Raised – In order to ensure that all of our puppies are raised in loving homes, Fox Run Farm began partnering with their friends and family members who act as guardian homes for several dogs in their program. Fox Run Farm recognizes the importance of each dog getting the love and care that they deserve and do not want their dogs living in kennels full-time. When puppies arrive they reside in the main living area of the house and are exposed to all of the Clements children, their friends, neighbors, and guests. Puppies are raised using several different evidence-based programs that you can learn more about on our resources page! Puppies will come to you well-handled and exposed to a lot of different experiences.

Lifetime Support – Claire and Lynn offer breeder support for the lifetime of your puppy for any issue or concern that you may have. We are dedicated to the health and well-being of the animals that we produce here and we want to ensure that every family is happy and satisfied with their puppy. Claire and Lynn usually keep in regular contact with the families and many become friends. In addition, when you purchase a puppy from Fox Run Farm – you are joining an extended family and network of pet owners. We connect all of our families together, both on social media and occasionally in-person for local puppy meet-ups!

Affordability and Flexible Payments – The most important thing at Fox Run Farm is ensuring that our puppies go to wonderful forever homes. We spend countless hours researching the breeds we raise and often our prices are much lower than other in-home breeders with comparable breeding standards. Our prices are based on the 24/7 care and attention that we give to each and every puppy. We spend hours and hours handling our puppies and even begin basic training before your puppy leaves. This time is priceless. While you may be able to find a cheaper puppy elsewhere; the cheaper cost may come at a sacrifice to that puppy’s socialization and health. Many cheap puppies can potentially come from puppy mills that raise their puppies in large kennels and not in the home. This makes them more susceptible to diseases and health issues that could cost you more money in the long-term. Their lack of socialization can also result in a puppy that has behavioral issues and may require extra professional training.

What is Flexible Payments you might ask? Because we want to make sure that each puppy goes to a family that truly loves them and is prepared for a lifetime together – our deposits are fully refundable! That’s right – you can have your deposit refunded at any time; for any reason. Or if you decide that the timing is just not quite right – we can transfer your deposit to another puppy or expected litter at a later date to reserve your spot on our list. Otherwise, your deposit will reserve the puppy of your choice until it is able to leave. We also allow payments up until the puppy leaves our home. You can make a payment at anytime!

Generous Health Guarantee

We strive to produce the healthiest pets that we can. All of our adults are genetically tested for inherited diseases common in their breed. Some of our adults also undergo additional testing to include x-rays and cardiac and ophthalmology assessments required by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). We also use a vitamin program both before and after the birth of our puppies. Each dog that we breed is given Revival Animal Health vitamins during the breeding process and throughout their pregnancy. These prenatal vitamins are fortified with iron, folic acid, and zinc. They also optimize the red blood cells and blood flow needed during pregnancy. After birth, our dogs are given Revival’s post natal vitamin; OxyMomma. This supplement helps the female recover from pregnancy and has herbal ingredients that support lactation and enhance milk production.

At Fox Run Farm we stand behind the puppies we produce and want all of our families to be happy and satisfied with their experience and new family member. We offer a one year health guarantee against any life-threatening genetic condition. This guarantee also includes high grade juvenile orthopedic conditions that would require surgery for the animal to live a normal and pain-free life. Unlike many other health guarantees, we do not require that the affected animal be returned to us in order to meet our replacement guidelines. In the event one of our progeny did develop such a catastrophic condition, we know and understand how devastating that would be, and we would never expect for a family to turn over their beloved pet in order to satisfy a contract. We don’t think that is fair and we would allow the pet to remain in your care to live out it’s life – whatever that might look like. We sure hope that never occurs, but if it does, we are here for you! It would be equally upsetting to us and we want our client’s to know how much we care.
